Multiple Deoxyribonucleic Acid Polymerases from Quiescent Wheat
Three DNA polymerases (A, B and C) have been purified from the soluble cytoplasm of ungerminated wheat embryos. Mainly on the basis of chromatographic, template-specificity and salt-inhibition evidence, we have characterized the three enzymes. Other physicochemical and enzymic properties are described. From purified mitochondria we have purified a DNA polymerase that behaves like DNA polymerase...
متن کاملMultiple Forms of Nuclear Deoxyribonucleic Acid Polymerases
1. DNA polymerase from nuclear and supernatant fractions of cultured mouse L929 cells was fractionated on columns of Sephadex G-200, Sepharose 4B and of DEAEcellulose. Several peaks of activity are found on Sephadex chromatography and the distribution of activity between these depends on: (a) the source of the enzyme, i.e. nuclear or supernatant fraction; (b) the mode of extraction of the enzym...
متن کاملSerological relatedness of bacterial deoxyribonucleic acid polymerases.
A number of bacterial species have been surveyed for serological activities with antiserum to Escherichia coli B deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) polymerase I (EC 2.7.7.7.). The degree of serological cross-reaction is taken as a measure of relatedness of both the enzyme molecules from various species and the bacterial species themselves. Extracts were assayed by complement fixation only after treatm...
متن کاملNuclear deoxyribonucleic acid-dependent ribonucleic acid polymerases from Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Two deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-dependent ribonucleic acid (RNA) polymerases (I, II) have been solubilized from isolated Saccharomyces cerevisiae nuclei. The enzymes can be separated by chromatography on O-diethylaminoethyl Sephadex. Both enzymes are active with high-molecular-weight nuclear yeast DNA, although RNA polymerase I has a higher affinity for polydeoxy-adenylic-thymidylic acid and RN...
متن کاملDeoxyribonucleic acid-deoxyribonucleic acid hybridization of R factors.
A new method of estimating deoxyribonucleic acid homology is presented and used to measure the homology between bacterial plasmids of different compatibility groups. Deoxyribonucleic acid of the P-group plasmid RP1, originally isolated in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, has considerable (50%) homology with an N-group plasmid of the Enterobacteriaceae.
